Natural Ways to Relieve Itchy Winter Skin

At some point, the dry winter air is sure to take a toll on your skin. And when it does, you’ll find yourself searching for anything to relieve the itch.

While there are a variety of options available to you, it’s often best to turn your attention to natural relief. Here are three simple ideas to experiment with the next time itchy winter skin gets you down:

• Apply a cold, wet cloth: Do this approximately 10 minutes at a time — throughout the day — until the itch goes away.

• Use colloidal oatmeal: As a finely ground oatmeal, it dissolves quickly in water. You can then use the solution to apply a protective barrier. Not only does this relieve your itchy skin, but it also captures the moisture to prevent the same problem in the future.

• Apply apple cider vinegar: If it’s your scalp that’s giving you trouble, apply apple cider vinegar directly to the affected area. Be sure that you first dilute the vinegar in water at a 1 to 1 ratio. From there, apply the solution, let it drive, and then gently rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Experiment with these three ideas — among others — to find the best way to relieve itchy winter skin. You’ll soon find the approach that works best for you.
