You go to bed feeling fine, but when you rise in the morning you soon realize that you have a sore throat.
Immediately, you begin to wonder if you’re getting sick. And while that may be the case, it’s not the only potential cause of a sore throat upon waking up in the morning.
Here are some other things that could be leading to this common ailment:
• Dehydration, as you’re not getting any fluids while you’re sleeping
• Snoring
• Allergies
• Sleeping with the windows open
• Dry air, which is especially common during the cold winter months
If you’re consistently waking up with a sore throat, don’t hesitate to seek medical attention. Of course, you should also consider the fact that it’s related to one of the other less serious issues above.
Through trial and error, you should be able to pinpoint the cause of your sore throat, thus allowing you to adjust your sleep and lifestyle to prevent it in the future.
