No matter how hard you try to avoid it, there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself dealing with a stuffy nose this fall and/or winter.
Fortunately, this isn’t the worst ailment you can come across. Just the same, there are a variety of home remedies that can help you find relief.
Here are a handful of the best ways to rid yourself of a stuffy nose:
• Take a shower: A hot shower will thin out the mucus in your nose, thus making it easier to breathe. Not to mention the fact that it’ll also relax your muscles, which can help deal with other symptoms of a cold.
• Use a humidifier: Breathing in moist air can soothe your sinuses and tissues in your nose. If you don’t have a whole house humidifier, add one to the room where you spend the most time (such as your bedroom during night time hours).
• Stay hydrated: You may not feel like drinking a lot, but it’s critical to overcoming your stuffy nose. In addition to water, sports drinks and juice (apple and orange are a good place to start) will keep you hydrated, thus pushing fluids from your nose and thinning mucus.
Forget about pumping yourself full of medication that can cause more harm than good. There are simple home remedies – such as the three above – that can quickly and effectively treat a stuffy nose.
