Can’t Focus? Follow These Tips to Beat Workplace Distractions
Many people find it difficult to focus at their place of employment. For one reason or the next, they can’t “get in the zone” and put their focus on the task at hand. Does that sound familiar?
Here are some basic tips you can employ to beat workplace distractions and take your productivity and performance to new heights.
Hyper-focus on two or three tasks each day: Choose two or three important tasks that you need to complete each day. From there, focus on these during your peak performance times (whenever that may be).
Eliminate digital distractions: From your smartphone to your email, you must eliminate (or reduce) digital distractions if you want to focus fully on the tasks outlined above.
Ask for privacy: You don’t want to be rude, but at the same time you need privacy if you plan on focusing 100 percent on your work. It’s okay to ask others to leave you alone and to say “no” when you’re trying to focus.
Finally, if you have the option to work from home, consider the pros and cons of doing so. If you know you’ll be the only one in your home while you’re working, you’ll have the opportunity to control every aspect of your day without distractions.
