The Benefits of Breaks During Your Workday

There’s nothing wrong with putting in a hard day’s work at the office, but that doesn’t mean you should push yourself to the limit. It’s critical to take regular breaks throughout your workday, as doing so comes with benefits such as:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety.

  • Higher level of performance.

  • Improved engagement with co-workers.

  • Reduced risk of injuries such as strains and sprains.

  • Breaks are good for your eyes.

  • The opportunity to refocus on the task at hand.

  • Improved mental health.

  • Improved creativity.

One day without breaks may not have much of an impact on your mind or body. However, when you begin to stack one day after the next, there’s a greater likelihood of something going wrong. Not to mention the fact that you could soon find yourself burnt out and in need of an escape.

Remember, the breaks that you take don’t have to be overly long. Even if it’s just 10 or 15 minutes away from your computer, it can have a positive impact on the rest of your day.

How many breaks do you take during your workday? Is it time to adjust your schedule to ensure that you’re giving your mind and body the proper amount of rest?
