Tips for Staying Hydrated This Winter

When the temperature takes a dive, it’s easy to assume that you don’t need to maintain the same level of hydration. However, nothing could be further from the truth. You need to hydrate your body in the same manner as you do during the hot summer months.

Here are some basic tips for staying hydrated this winter:

• Replace what you lose: Even if you’re not working out, you still lose a lot of water throughout the day. Get into the habit of drinking enough water to counteract this.

• Drink room temperature beverages: Did you know that cold beverages are absorbed more quickly? When exercising in cold weather, opt for room temperature beverages when at all possible.

• Layer up: The more you sweat, the greater chance there is that it will lower your body temperature. This forces your body to work harder to maintain its temperature. Fight against this by wearing layers of clothes that absorb sweat.

These aren’t the only tips you can follow to stay hydrated during the cold winter months, but they can definitely help. By implementing all three of these tips into your daily life, you’ll soon realize that it’s much easier to stay hydrated and maintain your overall level of health.
