What are the Benefits of Desk Yoga?
As an office worker, it’s common to find yourself sitting for long periods of time. As a result, your back, neck, arms, and legs are at risk.
Fortunately, there are steps you can take to maintain your good health, with desk yoga at the top of the list.
Desk yoga is exactly what it sounds like. It’s yoga exercises that you perform while you’re seated. For example, moving your shoulders down between your legs to reduce the pressure on your lower back.
Here are some of the many benefits of desk yoga:
• Alleviates pain and discomfort: Desk yoga is particularly helpful if you spend a lot of time hunched over your keyboard, staring at your computer screen. A little bit of stretching can go a long way.
• Increased energy: As the day wears on, it’s likely that fatigue will set in. You can increase your energy level with desk yoga, as it promotes blood flow and oxygenation.
• Reduces mental strain and enhances your focus: There will be days when you’re bogged down mentally and searching for an answer. Desk yoga may be able to rescue you from mental strain and the inability to focus.
You don’t have to go overboard with desk yoga. A few basic stretches throughout the day can do wonders for your physical and mental health.
